Longchamp was founded in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain, starting as a tobacco pipe shop. What made Longchamp stand out was its use of premium leather to wrap the pipes, making them a bestseller among military officers and even the legendary Elvis Presley.

After World War II, the demand for tobacco pipes dwindled, and Longchamp seized the opportunity to transition into the fashion industry, which was on the rise. The brand began producing a variety of leather goods, including travel bags, wallets, and daily accessories. In 1975, as women’s fashion continued to grow, Longchamp introduced its first women’s handbag, the Veau Foulonné, which was continuously developed to meet changing trends and customer needs.

In 1994, Longchamp launched the Le Pliage collection, a foldable nylon bag that became a global phenomenon. Its lightweight, durable design, spacious interior, and range of colors made it a worldwide bestseller. Today, Longchamp continues to create new collections of leather goods, known for their innovative designs and outstanding quality.
